Afternoon courses for 15 talented students in our school in Kunduz, Afghanistan
IN AFGOur primary school for underprivileged children resumed classes in mid-March with 124 boys and girls between 6 and 15 years old who are divided into 6 classes, from the 1st to the 6th grade and last year.
We employ 14 people, all Afghans, including 6 teachers, a cook, a gardener, two guards (day and night), two domestic employees, in addition to the director and assistant director who also teaches English and computer science.
Students receive a breakfast – a glass of milk and a bread – on arrival. From 8 – 12am they attend their classes. Then we offer them a hot meal and after they go home.
Since early April, we have added between 1-3pm classes to support 15 talented and motivated students. They are between 7 and 13 years old. We engaged another teacher, a young lady, who gives them lessons in:
Mathematics
Persian – Dari – the first Afghan national language
Pashto – the 2nd Afghan national language
English
Computer science
and religion – the quran
We intend to develop other activities in the afternoon and will keep you informed.
